Kapurthala which was formerly a princely state, is one of the smallest district of Punjab, both in terms of area and population.The economy of the district is still predominantly agricultural.
It is said that Kapurthala was founded in the 11th Century during the period of Mahmood Gaznvi. This town was established by Rana Kapoor of Rajput Gharana, of Jaisalmer, established this town.On his name, the place has got its name- Kapurthala
About Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangthan
Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan- an autonomous body under The Ministry of Human Resources & Development, Govt. of India-came into being on 15th December,1965 with taking over of twenty Regimental schools, presently having a vast network of as many as nine hundred Kendriya Vidyalayas spread all over the country with a common syllabus and medium of instruction which have brought a good deal of relief to the Central Govt. employees and other floating population liable to frequent transfers anywhere in India. More than forty thousand employees are playing a leading role in providing quality education to more than seven lac children. In the wake of today's changing scenario, rapid strides are being made in all key-areas of modern educational set-up to achieve excellence and to enhance the prosperity of Nation for acquiring all round development.
About the Vidyalaya
Establishment : Kendriya Vidyalaya Kapurthala Cantt. was established in 1986 and is being run under the aegis of the KVS. The Vidayalya has proved itself to be the vital and indispensable organ of the organization. (KVS)
Location : The Vidayalya is located in the peaceful surroundings of New Cantt. Kapurthala. The entire school complex is well organized and has well equipped classrooms, laboratories two Computer Labs. And well maintained playgrounds for all the major disciplines in sports. The students take the AISSE at std X level and AISSCE at +2 level. The Vidayalya also offers informatics practice as one of the optional subject.
